Archaeology Notes

NO53NE 59.02 58783 37181

What may be the operations building for East Haven Airfield is situated in the corner of a field about 202m NW of Hatton House. The building is visible on vertical air photographs taken in 1947 (CPE/Scot/UK 218 3205-3207, 25 June 1947), and appears as a rectangular structure measuring about 19.3 x 9.1m, surrounded by blast walls.

The structure also appears on aerial photography dated 1988 (All Scotland Survey [Jasair], 51788 207-208, 24 June 1988), and now surrounded by trees and it is depicted on the current OS 1:2500 scale digital map for the area.
