The first coast defence anti U-boat station (Naval Chain Home Low) was built at NO 600 059 and was later moved to this location. The radar station was later taken over by the RAF. The surviving structures were altered in the 1950s whilst being used as a VHF site in conjunction with Scotland's 'Secret Bunker' at Troywood (NO50NE 30).
