NO44SE 46.03 49386 41818

NO 4938 4181. A type 27 concrete pillbox situated on the NE of Douglas Wood radar site.

J Guy 2000; NMRS MS 810/9

This pillbox is depicted on the current OS 1:2500 scale digital map, situated in the SE corner of a field to the NE of the main radar site. The pillbox has been built on a prehistoric barrow mound (NO44SE 30).

The structure is visible on vertical air photographs taken in 1947 (CPE/Scot/UK 304, 3080-3081, flown 26 September 1947), which also show that there were at least five Nissen type huts imemdiately to the SE of it.
