Archaeology Notes

NO43NW 51.03 From 4147 3693 to 4197 3779

The dispersed accommodation camps are visible on vertical air photographs (CPE/Scot/UK 267, 3004-3007, flown 14 August 1947).

Consisting of huts, both of the Nissen and wooden types, they extend to a point just S of Balmuir Cottages (NO 4197 3779). The main group of conjoined huts at NO 4190 3700 have been removed and the new small village of Inveraldie built on their site.

Two other small groups of huts (at NO 4246 3685 and NO 4233 3650) can be seen on the air photographs, all of which have also been totally removed since the end of World War II.
