Archaeological Evaluation (24 October 2011 - 1 November 2011)

NO 452 218 (centred) An evaluation was carried out 24 October–1 November 2011 of Dovecot Field to the N of Leuchars prior to development. The area was considered sensitive due to the presence of previously recorded cropmarks to the N and W and Leuchars Castle to the NE. The trial trench evaluation, which consisted of 46 trenches covering 7.5% of the 6ha development area, recorded three undated pits and some rig and furrow, but no significant archaeological remains.
