Note (4 April 1989)

NO13NW 7.02 1274 3968.

This barrow measures 10m in diameter within a shallow ditch and survives to a height of 0.7m above the modern ground level.

Excavation (by Abercromby) revealed a central grave-pit (measuring 2.1m in length); fragments of decayed wood were found but there was no trace of a body. The grave was covered by a circular mound of earth measuring 0.9m in height. This was later covered by a layer of gravel, and finally by a capping of stony material.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS) 4 April 1989.
