For the main part of Perth Aerodrome see also NO12NE 61.00

A group of mounds, possibly for the storage of ammunition or petrol, situated within Muirward Wood next to a forest road approximately a half mile W of the airfield.

Five long pyramidical mounds with their axis NE to SW with one much longer (100m) to the N running on an axis NW to SE. The longer mound is separated from the others by a brick wall and sunken road.

Information from Mr W Graham Watson, Perthshire Society of Natural Science, Archaeological and Historical Section, May 2001.

The installation is visible on RAF WW II vertical air photographs (NLA 68, 3071-3072, flown 27 August 1943), which shows two groups of four earth banked bays. Tracks from the airfield lead in from the SE and NE.

The two areas of 'bays' are depcited on the current OS 1:2500 scale digital map as are the tracks leading to them.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), September 2005
