NN91NE 10 c. 96 15

An Late Bronze Age bronze sword of native British (Ewart Park) type (Coles 1962) was found in Feb. 1898 on the farm of Bailielands, Auchterarder, about 200 yards from where a cist was discovered c.1890. (See NN91NE 7) (Reid 1898).

It is in the National Museum of Antiquities, (Accession no. DL 23).

(Ewart Park type - Northern step 3). Single find. Complete sword. Length 60cm, terminal width 3.55cm, shoulder width 4.85cm, maximum blade width 4.1cm; poor casting with air bubbles evident on blade where corrosion has taken away the surface. Slight light khaki patina at point of blade. Modern filing on blade; rivets 2:2, one in situ. NMAS DL 23.
