OS 25" map (1866)

The market cross of Crieff stands against a public building in the principal street. The shaft ends in a trefoil head the carving of which incorporates a shield bearing the Drummond Arms. The cross is said to have been erected by James Drummond, Chancellor to James VII, but its condition and design suggest a much greater age.

J W Small 1900

The cross is 10 feet high and its transverse bars are 6ins long.

Name Book 1863

The cross, as described above, stands at NN 8648 2155. It is described on a plaque as the 'Cross of the Burgh of Regality of Drummond.' No evidence of its former location was found.

Surveyed at 1/2500.

Visited by OS (WDJ) 21 March 1963.
