Alleged Roman Road, Dalginross to Ardoch.
Information from Mrs M E C Stewart, no date.
NN 7811 2022 to NN 7800 2000 An old road from Comrie to Braco runs from Bishopsfauld (NN 778 191) to Langside (NN 792 137) and on to Braco Bridge. Richmond and McIntyre, discussing a probable Roman Road system in relation to Fendoch say "On that site (Dealgin Ross) today there are clear signs of a great road leading south-eastwards, either down Strathearn, or back over the natural pass to Ardoch".
Dr E A Cormack 1965. I A Richmond and J McIntyre 1936.
Cormack (1965) describes the alleged Roman road running from Comrie to Braco as it is shown on the OS 6 inch map from NN 778 191 to NN 785 154 (see also NN71NE 17).
E A Cormack 1965.
The road perambulated between NN 7815 2029 and NN 7800 2000. Nothing could be found to suggest that this is the course of a Roman road.
Information from OS (RD) 5 December 1966.
An alleged Roman road is speculated to have run from Camp Road/Cowden Road junction south-eastwards. Following Cowden Road up to NN 7780 2082, the road then bends to the SW, near NN 7814 2027, S of Cowden. From NN 7810 2021 onwards the alleged road follows a trackway.
An access road from the Roman fort at Dalginross (NN72SE 2), running to the SE, presumably joins the alleged main road near NN 7800 2055.
Information from RCAHMS (no date).
