NN 687 648 - Scattered along the south side of Loch Errochty are at least seventeen rectangular or oval structures. The larger structures with walls as high as 0.8m are undoubtedly the remains of an old farmstead and outbuildings. The smaller rectangular structures, varying from 5.0m to 7.0m long x c.2.5m wide with walls c.0.3m high, are the remains of shielings probably more recent than the oval turf covered footings of the same size, which are also shielings.

A farmstead comprising two unroofed buildings and a field, and a head-dyke are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Perthshire 1867, sheet xxviii). A series of enclosures annotated as Sheep Pens, four unroofed buildings annotated as Old Shielings and part of the head-dyke are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1976). Due to the damming of Errochty Water and the creation of Loch Errochty [Errochty Reservoir: NN66NE 8] this site is now mostly under water.
