Archaeology Notes

NN32NE 28 3867 2533

For Crianlarich (Upper) Station (NN 3846 2509), see NN32NE 24.

This station was not impressive. It initially comprised two platforms and a passing loop but lost its up platform when the passing loop was moved further W after the spur from the Fort William line was built (1894). Since the closure of the station, its site has remained in use as timber sidings on a spur.

This intermediate station on the Callander-Oban line of the former Caledonian Rly was opened (as Crianlarich Station) by the Callander and Oban Rly in August 1873. It was renamed Crianlarich Lower Station on 8 June 1953 and closed to regular passenger traffic on 28 September 1965.
