Visited by OS May 1970

Initially the route of the military road is overlain by the A82, but then diverges to the N on to what is now a farm track. This stony track, which is suffering from severe erosion and much churning upin parts, displays no military features. However, at NN 1315 7614, a well maintained path running past the Inverlochy Castle Hotel lies on the military line. This then links up with the hotel driveway. The fairly straight alignment of these routes is essentially the only military characteristic visible in this area. As the route passes through Torlundy and crosses the River Lundy, it is not now possible to identify any traces of the military road or associated crossing point of the river.

Having traversed the railway line the military road is thought to have followed a line which now goes past the Forestry Commission offices. As far as the cottage at NN 1484 7734 the 18th century route is now overlain with tarmac. At this point the military road continues straight on whereas the modern route turns N. Overgrowth and fallen trees almost completely obscure the beginning of this sector of the military road. On either side of the route low banks are visible and it appears that a channel has been dug down the middle of the road in this section. Having passed a high wire fence and wooden stile, the military road enters an area of afforestation.
