NM 907 042. Cup marks and a basin occur on fissured, horizontal outcrop 190 yds SE of the shepherd's cottage, 50 yds SW of the summit of a ridge, and 70 yds NE of the ruins of the village.
There are more than 70 cups up to 4" in diameter, and a round basin 10" x 9".
The area presently exposed measures roughly 1.0m square, but there is evidence that about 4.0m x 2.0m has been uncovered on two occasions, once about 1970 by unknown persons, and again more recently by Mr Petzch, 32 Canaan Lane, Edinburgh 10.
Surveyed at 1:10,000 during mid-Argyll inventory work by RCAHMS.
Field Visit (May 1983)
Three groups of decorated rock surfaces have been found close to the former shepherd's cottage at Fincharn.
(3) On a horizontal rock surface about 140 m SE of the cottage, there are at least ninety weathered cupmarks accompanied by the basin of a knocking-stone (Petzsch 1972; 1973).
