The ANNA BHAN was lost when it dragged its moorings in gale.

Surveying Details

22 January 1992. The wreck lies at NGR co-ordinates 151700E, 754600N. It is lying on its side and has nets over the bows.

Note: Conversion of the the NGR to lat/long gives 56 37 03N, 006 02 52W.

(No classification, cargo or date of loss specified: construction cited as '(wood)'). Anna Phan [Bhan]: this vessel was left to rot, and blown up in 1961.

(Location of loss cited as N56 37.22 W6 2.83).

As cited in its original (lat/long form) the location cited for this wreck appears indeterminate. A location at NM c. 516 546 appears probable, and it may fall on map sheet NM55NW. No indication accuracy is assigned to the lat/long location cited by HO (1995), but this converts to NM 5204 5455.

Tobermory Bay is not noted as such on the 2001 edition of the OS 1:50,000 map but its well-defined area is centred around NM 510 550.

(Formerly classified as steamship: reclassified as smack). A photograph said to be of the Anna Bhan is on display in Tobermory Museum. The vessel recorded is a single-masted smack, in process of discharging limestone.
