Stone [NAT]

OS 1:10,000 map, 1992.

This boundary stone, which is depicted on both the 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire, 1869, sheet lxxv; 1902, sheet lxxv.NE), was probably removed when the Gordon Highlanders' Barracks (NJ90NW 409.00) was built in the 1930s and replaced by the concrete marker that now stands here. This marker is within the fenced sports ground of Aberdeen University and could not be closely examined on the date of visit. However, it measures about 0.4m in height and is similar to all the other markers around the perimeter of the barracks (see eg. NJ90NW 1581).

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS), 25 August 2002.
