An octagonal iron tower with triangular-paned lantern, and plain railed gallery with perforated floor on cast-iron brackets. Fog bell on S side. Above door, a plaque 'Sir Alexander Anderson Knt, Lord Provost, Patrick Cooper Esq, Master of Shore Works MDCCCLXV'.
