A carved stone ball, 2 1/2ins diameter, with six projecting knobs, found at least 40 years ago in Bourtie parish, probably on Hill of Barra (NJ 80 25), is in the Irvine Collection at Barra Castle.

Visited by OS (RL) 20 March 1969.

A carved stone ball in the possession of Mr N Q Bogden, Barra Castle is labelled as having been found on the Barra Estate. It measures about 85mm in overall diameter and bears six flattened 'knobs', each of which measures about 45mm in diameter and projects about 12mm.
