(NJ 8638 2798) Urns found AD 1840 (NAT)

OS 6" map, (1959)

Three urns, of baked clay, each containing ashes or burnt human bones, were found in 1840 by Mr J Strath, Cauldhame, whilst improving the land.

Name Book 1868.

No further information.

Visited by OS (RL) 5 April 1972.

The location indicated falls at the foot of a S-facing spur at an altitude of 110m OD.

NMRS, MS/712/80.

The present whereabouts of these urns, which were found in about 1840, are not known.
