Archaeology Notes

NJ81SE 132 8637 1479

This disused quarry is situated about 70m SE of Pitmedden House (NJ81SE 52.00) and has largely been filled with farm rubbish. The quarry is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire 1869, sheet lxv), but it fell out of use before the end of the 19th century and is annotated 'Old Quarry' on the 2nd edition of the map (1901, sheet lxv.NE).

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS), 26 June 1996.
