(NJ 7974 2128) Church (NR) (Site of)

OS 6" map, Aberdeenshire, 2nd ed., (1928)

Only the foundations of the old kirk of Monkeigie, alias Keith Hall, are traceable in the burial-yard. The church is mentioned in a charter of about 1175 and in a deed of 1481. The present church (at NJ 8020 2196) was built in 1771.

A Jervise 1875-9.

The parishes of Kinkell and Keithhall (formerly Monkeggie) were united on 20 February 1754.

H Scott 1915-61.

At NJ 7973 2128, there is a level platform, 0.7m high to the east and tapering into the natural slope to the west, which may be the foundations of the old kirk.

Surveyed at 1/2500.

Visited by OS (NKB) 19 March 1964.
