A small overgrown sand-pit is visible in woodland 160m SE of Pitcaple Castle (NJ72NW 10). It is not depicted on either the 1st or 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire, 1870, sheet lxv; 1901, sheet lxv.SW).
