This small, disused gravel-pit is situated at the E edge of Miss Bristow's Wood, some 230m W of Braeneil farmsteading. It is depicted on both the 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire, 1869, sheet lxiv; 1901, sheet lxiv.SW).
