Archaeology Notes

NJ66SW 21.14 centred 62984 63466

A small group of at least 16 concrete hut bases is situated about 170m NW of Eilean Cottage (NJ 63170 63355), to the W and S of ditches. The hut bases are depicted on the current OS digital maps. The site was not visited during a recent visit to the airfield.

The huts are visible on vertical air photographs (106G/Scot/UK 108, frames 3054-3055, flown 23 May 1946), which also show another twelve in the SE corner of the field to the W, which would appear to have been removed completely.
