NJ62SW 19 c. 627 236.

A Middle Bronze Age flanged axe (Class III) and spearhead (Class D), both from Lickleyhead (NJ 627 236) are in the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS, Accession nos. DC 37 and DG 98 respectively).

Proc Soc Antiq Scot 1855; NMAS 1892; J M Coles 1966.

(Flanged axe of Balcarry type). Single find. Flanged axe, somewhat corroded, porous, flaws in hafting portion, unfinished (?), asymmetrical in section i.e. mould halves were not properly fixed on top of each other, untrimmed casting seam, probably discarded as unsuccessful cast, modern working on butt and cutting edge; length 117mm, butt 21mm, cutting edge 43mm, weight 295 gms. NMA (DC 37).
