Archaeology Notes

NJ62NW 29 c. 61 28.

A fragment of a 'brass sword, or Roman gladius' was found some years ago on the farm of Mr A Beattie, Dunnideer (NJ 61 28), and is in his possession.

New Statistical Account (NSA) 1845.

Not now at Dunnideer.

Visited by OS (RL) 7 February 1969.

The present whereabouts of a possible sword blade that was found in the vicinity of Dunnideer before 1845 is not known. No description of the blade, nor of its findspot is recorded.
