16th century pepper pot dovecot of four banded areas, surviving boxes in the interior.
RCAHMS (2012).
Small beehive dovecot constructed in usual 4 stages. Harl pointed random rubble, tooled rubble dressings. Doorway in E side of dovecot; apex pigeon entrances; each course defined by stone slate rat course. INTERIOR: original stone nesting boxes fronted by series of late 18th century brick boxes (184 boxes) thus reducing the interior radius and space.
A dovecot is mentioned in Sasine dated 1643. (Information by courtesy Mrs Mary Mackie, Edinburgh who has researched the history of the Glassaugh estate (Historic Scotland)
