The old market Cross of Cullen stood opposite the parish church, but was removed to Castle Hill upon the demolition of the old town. The remains may be incorporated in the present market cross, or comparitively modern structure.

Cullen Market cross stands in the Square at NJ 5124 6710 and appears to be an entirely modern structure. The shaft and capital appear to be of fairly recent origin, while the ornate cupola upon which the cross stands, is of late 19th century date. Local enquiries failed to reveal when the changes were made to the cross since Small's visit, or when it was removed from the Castle Hill.

The market cross was removed to Castle Hill at NJ 5087 6702 between 1821 and 1830 (Cramond 1888). The cross base remains at this site and measures 2.8m in diameter with a central hexagonal hole, 0.3m across; the cross head and shaft were taken from Castle Hill about 1871
(Cramond 1888). As stated by Johnston (1961) the market cross in the square appears modern but as the shaft is hexagonal, 0.3m across, it may be a reconstruction of the old cross. There is no documentary evidence to verify this.
