Parish Church, 1815. A tall, plain kirk, rubble built, with two rectangular windows in south wall and a 17th century bellcote in the west gable (bell 1642). Uncompromising, but light inside.

(NJ 5978 2464) Church, Leslie: The present church was built in 1815, but has a belfry datable to 1635 and a Burgerhuys bell of 1642; the interior has been recast. There are records of the 'Kirk of Lesselyn', which belonged to the Abbey of Lindores, from 1257.

The present church is still in use. Date on belfry too weathered now to decipher. No trace and no local knowledge of an earlier church in the vicinity except at Chapelton. (See NJ52SE 3).

Leslie (Aberdeen, Garioch). Granted to Lindores [Abbey] by Norman, son of Malcolm, later known as Leslie (1199x1207), this was confirmed by David, earl of Huntingdon. A perpetual vicarage was erected in 1257, the parsonage thereafter remaining with the abbey.
