CLATT. From 'cleith', Gaelic for concealed, an apt name for an organic little sprawl of a kirkton which nestles beside the Gadie Burn. It retains the feel of the burgh of barony in which it was created in 1501. A weekly fair on Tuesdays, and
the yearly fairs, which lasted eight days, bore the name of Moloch, the patron saint of the parish.
