Archaeology Notes

NJ41SW 189 424 145

An incomplete whin-mill (crushing) stone has been noted near the stables (NJ41SW 16.07) at Glenkindie House. Worked from reddish granite, it measures 4ft 4ins (1.32m) in diameter and 11ins (0.28m) in thickness, and is probably all that remains of a whin mill, the shaft of which has disappeared and the course has been broken up.

J Ritchie 1925; NMRS, MS/712/46.

No trace of this stone was noted at Glenkindie on the date of visit.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS), 28 April 1997.
