Archaeology Notes

NJ26NW 79 2035 6786

Vertical air photography (BKS NJ26N/2633060, flown 9 July 1976) has recorded the cropmarks an area of rig and a rectilinear enclosure in the NE corner of the field.

NMRS, MS/712/91.

The area indicates falls within that of what have evidently been dispersals of Lossiemouth airfield (RAF Lossiemouth: NJ26NW 50).

Watching Brief (October 2021)

NJ 2008/6818 (centred) A watching brief was conducted in October 2021 for a number of test-pits. Development site lies to an area used as dispersal area of RAF Lossiemouth during Second World War (Canmore ID: 156921). Work revealed no archaeological features or deposits in the development area.
