Activities

Field Visit (30 May 2019)

This boundary stone, which is one of a series that once defined the extent of War Department property on the North Sutor, forms part of the infrastructure of the battery introduced by the Army during World War 2. It lies prone on the ground 3.5m SW of a stile providing access to an enclosure containing the radar observation post (NH86NW 9.01). It is a cast concrete pillar, roughly triangular on plan, with a flat back and a sloping top bearing the impressed legend ‘W’ and ‘D’ on either side of an upward pointing arrow, with the letters ‘BS’ and the number ‘14’ below.

Visited by HES, Survey and Recording (ATW, AKK), 30 May 2019.
