Field Visit (15 March 2019)

This grass-grown weapons pit, which is situated on a SSE-facing slope 23m ENE of the Incinerator (NH86NW 9.70), formed part of the defences of the battery introduced by the Army during World War 2. It is roughly square on plan and comprises a hollow measuring 3.8m from ENE to WSW and 3.5m transversely and up to 0.4m deep, with the upcast shaped into protective banks to its ENE and WSW up to 0.4m high.
