Activities

Field Visit (28 March 2019)

This grass-grown track, measuring roughly 3m broad, runs SW from the W gate in the security fence of Site No.1, through the E gate of Site No.2 (NH86NW 9.30), to a turn-around immediately E of the engine-house pit (NH86NW 9.16). It is largely terraced into the S-facing slope and represents an extension of the road that was originally constructed for Site No.1, which leads south from the road junction N of Castle Craig Cottages (NH 81790 69326), before turning sharply W to make for the W gate. There is no indication that this extension was tarmacked, although it was metalled.
