Activities

Project (21 February 2022 - 5 May 2022)

NH 72206 36110 to NH 80988 27955 AOC Archaeology undertook a programme of works including Trial Trenching; Strip and Record; Metal-detecting survey; Standing Building Recording; and a Landscape Survey as part of the A9 Dualling Tomatin to Moy.

The Proposed Scheme measures approximately 9.6km, beginning just south of Tomatin (NGR 281142, 827460) and passing the settlement of Moy, before ending at Creagan Bad Each (NGR 272298, 835880), a few kilometres to the north of Moy.

Photographic Survey (23 February 2022 - 4 March 2022)

A programme of photographic landscape survey and historic land use assessment covering the full proposed route of the dualling programme from Tomatin to Moy was undertaken (NH 72206 36110 to NH 80988 27955).

The land use along the Scheme was mixed parcels of commercial forestry plantation interspersed with more open areas of pasture and moor. In the south of the Scheme the landuse was primarily areas of lightly wooded rough pasture or open areas of rough pasture.
