There are quantities of iron slag, evidence of ancient iron-smelting, near the roadside, below the new Loch Rosque lodge (NH 146586).

Test pitting across the suspected site of an ironworking bloomery (NH15NW 2) recorded below Lochrosque Lodge in 1886 revealed no trace of the site.
