Around 11 blackhouses and associated structures, including a yard or enclosure and wells, were located here during an archaeological investigation by the Babtie Group ahead of a proposed new ferry facility at Ceann a'Gharaidh, Eriskay. The majority of the blackhouses are arranged roughly in a row running E to W, with scattered outliers to the N and S. Three possible middens lie in the centre of the main group, while two wells lie to the W. These structures are part of the settlement called Eilean na Coillieg, which is named on the OS 1st and 2nd edition OS maps (1876 and 1904). A number of buildings not shown on the maps were found, but no all the buildings depicted on the maps were found on the ground.
