Archaeology Notes

ND36SW 38 3433 6000 to 3447 6033

A line of concrete anti-tank blocks runs along the beach at Keiss Links. It consists of a double row of anti-tank pimples in front of a single line of anti-tank blocks, with a road block at a point where the line is breached.

On the top of one block the name 'A Hendry 7-1940' has been carved in the concrete. In some areas some of the blocks have now been removed and the bases of pillboxes were also noted (See ND36SW 25 and ND36SW 30).

J Guy 2000; NMRS MS 810/10, Vol.1, 21, Vol.3, 21

The double row of anti-tank blocks, pillboxes (ND36SW 25 and ND36SW 30 ) and the road block are visible on a RAF vertical air photograph (106G/Scot/UK73, 4431, flown 9 May 1946). The anti-tank blocks can be seen as a continuous line of blocks from further S almost to Keiss. The road block is visible at ND 3439 014.
