The surviving two of an orginal four 'C' type hangars.
The two remaining 'C1' type hangars are still in use, but for entirely different purposes. The furthest W is in use by Highland Council to provide for light aircraft repair and storage. This hangar has been modified as the main doors at the NE end are no longer extant and have been replaced by corrugated iron sheeting. The doors at the SW end no longer open fully and the steel entension gantry that formerly supprted the tracking for the doors has also been removed. Most of the former window openings have recently been covered with metal sheeting. Apart from the above, the hangar is regularly maintained and it is apprently intended that this is continue for many years.
The other hangar (to the NE) is in use for agricultural purposes and though not so well maintained is in nearly original condition.
There were originally four hangars and wartime air photography (NLA 16, 960, flown 22 June 1941 and NLA 57, 5077, 21 February 1943 shows that the most northeasterly (ND 36592 52244) was badly damaged by the air raid of 4 June 1941 after which it was repaired and subsequently demolished after the war had ended. The 1943 image also reveals that the two smaller aircraft sheds to the NE were also damaged and have subsequently been removed. Another C1 hangar immediately NE of the war damaged one has also been removed to make way for the approach roads to the terminal building.
