Archaeology Notes

ND03SE 22 095 329.

Roy's map marks five buildings at Dail-a-bhoich (ND03SE 20); these probably include the buildings at Bouilag. Bouilag consists of a large area of enclosed infield (centred ND 095 329), two buildings (at ND 0949 3299 and ND 0950 3301) and other stone walled enclosures.

W Roy 1747-55; Information from Historic Scotland to RCAHMS, July 1992.

A farmstead comprising two unroofed buildings, one of which is a long building, and an enclosure, and a head-dyke are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxxviii) and on the current edition of the OS 1:10,560 map (1962).

Information from RCAHMS (AKK) 8 January 1996.
