(NC 7139 0302) Stone Coffin and Bronze Spearhead found A.D. 1869 (NAT)

OS 6"map, Sutherland, 2nd ed., (1907)

On top of a large, whin-coverd, stony mound is a short cist, aligned NE to SW and measuring 1.0m long by 0.7m wide and 0.5m deep. Immediately to the S lies its probable cap-stone, measuring 1.5m long by 1.0m wide at its broadest end tapering to 0.2m and 0.3m thick. The mound is probably natural, measures 24.0m NW to SE by 20.0m transversely, and is situated at the SW side of the flood plain of the River Fleet, on a stretch of flat pasture land, immediately below steep sloping ground to the SW. The present whereabouts of the bronze spearhead could not be traced. Resurveyed at 1:2500.

Visited by OS (N K B) 15 February 1966.
