Archaeology Notes

NB43SE 10.03 centre 46093 33786

Examination of a series of vertical air photographs taken early in 1946 (106G/Scot/UK 103, frames 3259-3262; 4152-4155, flown 19 May 1946), has identified the main technical site, several dispersed domestic sites, an area of aircraft hangars, with buildings and huts.

A group of five aircraft hangars are visible on the N perimeter of the airfield.

The area is now shown on the current OS digital maps as a large roofed building with chimney and tanks.
