Six unroofed structures or planticrubs are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Orkney and Shetland (Shetland) 1881, sheet lxix) and are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1973). One is now painted white and used as a visual marker for aircraft using the Fair Isle airfield.

Field Visit (1985)
Crub c 5 x 4.75m and standing to maximum height of c1.3m. Long axis orientated approximately NW/SE. Uncoursed, unfaced rubble walls with substantial foundation stones, particularly in S wall and at corners. Some thick organic soil in interior. Some collapse of N wall. Low grassy bank around perimeter. Maximum surviving height of bank 0.3m and width c 2m. Composition predominantly of earth.
