(HY 2476 1448) Chapel (NR) (Site of) Burial Ground (NR)

O S 6" map, Orkney, 2nd ed., (1903).

The chapel, which had already disappeared by 1880, was 'popularly ascribed' to the 14th century and believed to have fallen into disuse before 1595. (Information from the Rentale Orchadie pro Rege et Episcope.) The Burial Ground was related to it and was supposed to have fallen into disuse by the end of the 16th century. No remains were visible in 1928.

Name Book 1880; RCAHMS 1946.

No traces of a chapel and burial ground can be seen in the area indicated which is very marshy. No finds have been made and there is no local knowledge of this chapel.

Visited by OS (NKB) 15 September 1964.
