Angel with Gift of Life
06/02/2012
The Angel is sited outside the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service centre in Ellen's Glen Road, Edinburgh (formerly the SNBTS Protein Fractionation Centre). The angel carries a protein molecule and represents the giving of blood and its life saving properties. It was made by the sculptor Edwin Russell who cast the angel in stainless steel to avoid welding lines so that it would convey a sense of streamlined modern technology.
