Insc: 'To the Feoffees of Trust and Governors of George Heriots Hospital' 'We the undersigned, being the proprietors of the houses Nos 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 Douglas Crescent, Edinburgh, which are all the houses built according to the Feuing Elevation Plan prepared by John Chesser and signed by the Right Honorable James Falshaw on behalf of the Superiors on 13th March 1876 hereby request that you grant us permission, in terms of the power reserved to you as Superiors in the Contracts of Feu under which we hold our respective houses, to alter the elevation plan at such times as we respectively may find convenient to the effect as shown above for No 13 Douglas Crescent. When the proprietors of the remaining houses in the Crescent were consulted regarding the alteration as above proposed on No 13 the great majority expressed approval and not one proprietor expressed a wish to oppose the change'.
