1160-1210. Gothic. Rubble, much dilapidated. Roofless. Fragmentary
remains.
CHURCH: Nave, N. Transept (late 13th Cent) Chancel (with plaque
commemorating founders; grave-slabs with effigies of knights, priests, etc.;
standing cross).
CLOISTERS REFECTORY Other conventual buildings are represented by
mounds of debris.

Ruin. Originally a House of Cistercian Monks founded by Somerled
Macdonald, Lord of Kintyre, and continued by his son, Reginald. Deserted
c.1470. James IV tranferred its lands to Bishopric of Argyll 1507-8.
Many stones removed in 18th century for building of Saddell House and
offices.
