Kielhope Law

Scooped Settlement, Building; Rig and Furrow

NT 78295 14027

This site was recorded as part of the Kale Water Survey project and is largely as described in the 1956 inventory on the date of visit. Roughly square on plan the settlement measures 36m from NE to SW by 33m transversely within turf banks. Within the interior there are the footings of a later rectangular building (NT 78295 14027) lying in the SW corner of the settlement. It measures 13m from NW to SE by 5m transversely with two compartments.

The settlement lies at the S edge of an area of rig cultivation which extends across the SW flank of Kielhope Law.
