Viaduct [NAT]

(Location cited as NS 731 546). Avon Viaduct, opened 1860 by the Caledonian Rly. A 4-span viaduct, with segmental arches of dressed-stone construction.

This viaduct carries the Motherwell-Hamilton railway line across the River Avon to the S of Hamilton (NS75NW 44).

The location assigned to this record defines the midpoint of the structure. The available map evidence indicates that it extends from NS c. 73111 54543 to NS c. 73151 54520.
